Linux Installation on Virtual Bux

Step 1: Download the Red hat Linux of required version in any browser.

For Downloading Red hat Linux Refer this link (https://developers.redhat.com/products/rhel/download).

Ø  Click on required download option

Download will begin

 


Step 2 : After downloading the Linux ISO file, install the VirtualBox (if not already for guide lines refer page number 14).

Step 3 : Run the Virtual Box

Ø  Click on add or new Symbol.



Step 4 : Give name for ISO Image



Step 5 : Select the ISO image from your downloads and Click next.





Step 6 : Click next

 


 

                                         

Step 7 : Select the base memory RAM size and CPU and click next.


Step 8: Click next



After Clicking next the ISO image will be added to your Virtual Box

 


Step 9 : Right Click on LinuxRedHat7.9 and go to settings.



 

Step 10: Click on networks and enable the Adapter 1 as NAT and Adapter 2 as Bridge Adapter and click ok.

Note :- NAT is used to internet purpose and

Bridge Adapter used for File transferring between the Linux and windows





 

Step 11: After adding adapters go to storage in settings and click on empty in optical drive select the disk.



Step 12: After adding disk right click on the RedHatLinux7.9 and start the machine installation will start.



 Step 13 : After 60 seconds the Red Hat Enterprise Linux installer, started, select your language and region, and click Continue.



Step 14 : After Clicking continue Linux GUI Will open as bellow.



 

Step 14: Select Date & Time:

 a. Set your region and the nearest city in your time zone.

 b. Click Done to return to the Installation Summary.



Step 15 : Select Keyboard Layout:

Click Done to return to the Installation Summary.


Step 16 : Select Installation Destination:

a. Select the target disk. A check mark is displayed next to the selected target. The selected disk is partitioned automatically.

 b. Click Done to return to the Installation Summary.



Step 17 : Select the Software selection:

A.      Select the Server with GUI and select the required software’s.

Eg. Java, KDE, Load balancer, Performance tool, network file system, security tool, development tools, system administration tools

B.      Click Done to return to the Installation Summary.





Step 18 : On the Installation Summary screen, click Begin Installation.


 

Step 19: The installation starts and the Configuration screen is displayed:



During the installation:

a. Select Root Password:

 i. Enter the password for the root user and confirm it.

ii. Click Done to return to the Configuration screen.



b. Select User Creation:

 i. Enter the user's full name.

ii. Optionally, update the automatically generated user name.

 iii. Set the password and confirm it.

iv. Optionally, check the Make this user administrator check box. This will add the user to the wheel group and allow this account to use sudo without any further configuration.

v. Click Done to return to the Configuration screen.



Step 20 : Finally, after the installation is completed and we have the Reboot button click on that.



 

Step 21 : Accept the license agreement

The initial step after rebooting is to accept the license to use the Oracle server.  Click on the License information and accept the agreement.

 



After accepting license click on done.



 

 

Linux installation completed successfully.
